A little education will go along way in the prevention of dog bites. You may have noticed that stories of dog bites have news a lot lately. The good news is that there is much we can do to prevent an attack.

Sometimes, unknowingly, people encourage dog bites. Either because people don't know how to properly behave around dogs, or they think they can do things around a strange dog that they do with their family dog who, no doubt, is well aquanted with them. For example, many people, particularly children, do not realize that a dog may percieve a hug around its neck or head as a display of dominance or a threat, which in turn may give rise to an attack.

The good new is that animals can be a joy to have around, and with a little education they can be safely enjoyed as man's best friend.
