Nursing home chain, Manor Care, is the largest nursing home chain in the United States. This year a private equity group purchased the chain. That transaction made Manor Care's CEO Paul Ormond between $118 and $186 million richer.

As is the case with all nursing home chains, most of Manor Care's revenues come from public programs, Medicare and Medicaid. Toby S. Edelman of the Center for Medicare Advocacy California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform put it best when he asked "How should our public health care dollars be spent? One man's windfall or certified nurse assistants and registered nurses in nursing homes?" Go on the link "nursing home care" for some startling numbers.
