Drunk Driver Hits 5 year-old Pedestrian, Leaves Scene

A mother and her 5-year-old son were crossing O Street in Bakersfield, California on Wednesday when the child was hit by a pick-up truck. The driver, 45-year-old John T. Clark III, then fled the scene.

The child was transported to Kern Medical Center and then transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital. He is said to be in critical condition.

Clark was later seen attempting to steal a car when he was detained and identified as driver of the hit and run vehicle. Police detained and arrested Clark for Felony DUI causing injury, felony hit and run with injury, DUI with priors and driving with a suspended license.
