Drug Costs Go up as Treatment Goes down

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association recently, for every 10 percent increase in the cost of medication to the consumer, spending decreases anywhere from two percent to six percent. This could mean real trouble for many.

For example, when you are dealing with conditions such as heart failure, diabetes, schizophrenia and asthma a reduction in medication can mean increase in emergency rooms visits. These were the finding after a review of some 132 studies covering a period of time from 1985 to 2006.
