Dole is recalling more than 6,000 cartons of cantaloupes after the cantaloupes tested positive for salmonella. These particular cantaloupes were distributed in the eastern US and Quebec between February fifth and February eighth. Dole said that there have been no reports of illness due to the contaminated cantaloupes, which are from Costa Rica. The recalled cartons of cantaloupe are dark brown with "Dole Cantaloupes" written in red lettering. There's a thirteen-digit number on a white tag pasted to the carton; the tenth digit is a "2." The Dole recall comes after Conagra - whose products include Banquet, Chief Boyardee and Egg Beaters - announced a voluntary recall of their peanut butter on Wednesday. The brands involved were certain batches of the Peter Pan brand and certain batches of Wal-Mart's Great Value house brand of peanut butter. The voluntary recall came after salmonella contamination was believed to have caused illness in 300 people in 39 states.
