Meat Recalled - E-coli Contamination Feared

Ground beef has now been added to the long list of recalled products. It is feared that the beef may be contaminated with E.Coli.
Due to the risk of E. Coli, 370,000 pounds of beef have been voluntary recalled in several states. According to Steven Cohen from the Food Safety and Inspection Service " Eleven people have become ill, but the last known case to be possibly linked to this occurred in early May."

The possible contamination occurred on April 20. The meat in question would have been marked with a shelf life of March 6th and March 7th. Stores where all of the meat was sold confirmed that none of the meat was currently on the shelves. Now that could be a good or a bad thing depending on whether it is not on the shelves because it was pulled by the store, or because it was bought be a consumer.

"Todd Waldman, United's senior vice president, said in the statement: "Given our long history of focusing on product safety and our standards of excellence, we will err on the side of being cautious with this recall."
